Aligning Dreaming Planning Organizing Serving Celebrating Learning Ministry Communicorps

North American Evangelical Church

This is a term we use internally to describe the mainstream church in the United States. These churches are currently characterized by:

  • Larger congregations, typically more than 500 in attendance weekly, though some have thousands at weekly services
  • Campus-centric ministry, based on drawing people to events or programs at one or multiple campuses
  • Abundance marketing or programming, aimed primarily at improving the lives of its participants
  • Lack of knowledge and participation in worldwide ministry, characterized by a segregated missions department and/or missions as an insignificant percentage of the church's overall focus of time, energy and resources being given to worldwide disciple-making
